Crime Watch Report - May 8 to 14, 2016

Detective1) 2016-3888 On May 8th, a theft from several vehicles was reported to have occurred in the 200 block of Moilliet Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that culprits entered her unlocked vehicle and although things appeared to have been rifled through, nothing appeared missing. Several other vehicles in the immediate area also appeared to have been rummaged through. The registered owners were contacted and other than a pill bottle being stolen from one vehicle, nothing was missing.

2) 2016-3905 On May 8th, a theft of vehicle from a business was reported to have occurred in the 500 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the early hours a black 2006 Ford F350 pickup with canopy was stolen off the car lot. Later in the day the canopy was located abandoned in Bowser and the vehicle was located abandoned on a logging road in Port Alberni jurisdiction. This matter remains under investigation.

3) 2016-3916 On May 9th, an attempted theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 900 block of Price Road in Parksville. The complainant advised that he discovered that culprits attempted to steal his brown 2004 Ford F350 pickup that was parked on his property. He discovered that the ignition had been tampered with however the thieves could not steal the vehicle because the motor was faulty.

4) 2016-3917 On May 9th, a theft from vehicles was reported to have occurred at a business in the 1700 block of Alberni Highway in Coombs. The complainant advised that he discovered that the cargo doors on two recreational vehicles had been pried open. Two batteries were stolen from one vehicle while nothing was missing from the other.

5) 2016-3959 On May 10th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred on Eaglecrest Drive in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that he left his unlocked vehicle somewhere on Eaglecrest Drive on May 8th and in the morning discovered that culprits had entered the vehicle and stole a Cannon T5 camera valued at $500.00, a pair of Rayban sunglasses, various debit and credit cards and $40.00 in cash from his wallet and Nike shoes.

6) 2016-3991 On May 11, a theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 1400 block of Alberni Highway in Parksville. The complainant advised that he left his white 1993 Ford F150 pickup, license 0532-HH, parked in a dirt parking lot adjacent to the Co-op Gas Station. In the morning he discovered broken glass where his truck had been parked. The vehicle had been locked and all keys are accounted for.

7) 2016-4009 On May 11th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 1400 block of Alberni Highway in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early hours of May 11th, culprits stole the winch off his vehicle.

8) 2016-4071 On May 13th, a mischief to property was reported to have occurred in the 1300 block of Errington Road in Errington. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening culprits vandalized the War Memorial Hall by putting graffiti on a table top and side of the building. 9) 2016-4076 On May 13th, a theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 1700 block of Alberni Highway in Coombs. The complainant advised that the uninsured black 1993 Toyota Celica convertible was parked along the roadway in front of his residence. In the morning the complainant discovered the vehicle gone.

9) 2016-4088 On May 13th, a theft from business was reported to have occurred in the 300 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that two males exited the grocery store with an unpaid basket full of product, jumped over a small balcony and ran towards Community Park. The first male is described as Caucasian, late 20’s, short hair and wearing a black tee shirt. The second male is also Caucasian, late 20’s, approximately 5’10” in height, scruffy short black hair, wearing a black hat, red jacket and black pants. The complainant believes that the same males stole from his store several days prior.

10) 2016-4125 On May 14th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 300 block of Wembley Road in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early hours culprits entered his unlocked vehicle and stole an older pair of binoculars that were hidden under the seat and some car wash tokens.
