There are two offices for OCSV located in Parksville and Qualicum Beach. The visiting office hours are Monday to Friday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. There are 10 volunteers per week working in each office covering two shifts per day from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. and in the afternoon from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
The volunteers are there to greet the public by assisting them with their inquiries incorporating a number of programs for example: Keeping In Touch (KIT), Medical Alert Kits (Makpaks), Citizens on Patrol, Speed Watch, Block Watch (BW), Bicycle Registration, Child Safety Car Seat Seminars, Child Identification Cards, and Senior Programs to name a few.
The morning volunteer conducts phone calls to a list of clients between 9:00 and 10:00 am checking on how they are, how their night was and ensuring they are getting on with their day. Other office duties may include answering telephone inquiries, basic clerical and computer functions. A log is monitored for phone calls and visitors for record keeping purposes. We have 2 volunteers on weekends and holidays to perform the KIT Calls between 9:00 and 10:00 am. Many of the office volunteers are also Leads for various OCSV Programs by preparing work schedules and organizing the volunteers.
Please feel free to drop by either office once they have re-opened to the public. They are currently closed due to Covid-19.
